BANGOR РThe 21st annual WLBZ 2 Sidewalk Art Festival, scheduled to take place from 9am to 4pm on Saturday, August 7th in downtown Bangor,  now features a cash prize for the top photography exhibitor.
‚ÄúWith the advent of digital photography, our festival has seen an increase in the number of very talented photographers that exhibit at the show,‚ÄĚ said WLBZ 2 President and General Manager Judy Horan. ‚ÄúSo it seems only appropriate that interest in photography be acknowledged.‚ÄĚ
The new prize, entitled Best in Show Photography Festival Award, will be a $500 cash honor. ‚ÄúWe will bring in a local photographer to act as a judge just for this category,‚ÄĚ said Horan. The prize will be based on the body of the work exhibited, not just one work.
This photography award is in addition to the other three cash prizes up for grabs by other artists in the show exhibiting everything from oils to watercolors and pastels to fine art. The prizes combined total more than $2000.
Applications for photographers and all other types of artists are still being accepted. To obtain an application, visit WLBZ2.com, hover over the Community button and click on WLBZ 2 Sidewalk Art Festival.
