WINTER HARBOR, Maine — Edith Dixon and Alan Goldstein invite golfers to participate in the 14th Annual Schoodic Scramble, scheduled for September 17 and 18. This fun-filled golf tournament will be played at two beautiful coastal courses, Grindstone Neck in Winter Harbor and Blink Bonnie in Sorrento. This charity tournament is co-sponsored by Mrs. Dixon and Mr. Goldstein, with proceeds benefiting the Eleanor Widener Dixon Memorial Clinic in Gouldsboro. This outpatient clinic of Maine Coast Memorial Hospital provides a vast array of medical services to the Downeast Community and to the residents and guests of the Schoodic Peninsula. Last year the Clinic provided healthcare services to 3,603 patients. Through the Clinic’s fundraising activities, significant capital improvements are made possible and quality patient care advanced.
This year’s event promises all the great amenities golfers have come to expect thanks to support from Cherryfield Foods, Fisherman’s Inn Restaurant’s Carl Johnston, Garbo Lobster, Grindstone Association, Kelco Industries, Merrill Furniture, Morrison Chevrolet, Rooster Brother and Stanley Scooters.
The entry fee is $85 per golfer ($77 tax deductible) or $340 for a team of four. This two day tournament offers $3,000 in prize money and giveaways. Prizes will be awarded for Men’s A & B, Women’s and Couples categories. New this year golfers have the option to purchase mulligans for their team and to test their skills in the “pot o’ gold” contest.
