New Non-Profit Group Aims to Rehabilitate Habitat, Wildlife, and People

Concord/Pleasant Ridge -

CONCORD – American Greenlands Restoration, Inc. and The Pine Grove Program will host an open house at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 22 to showcase wildlife habitat restorations completed to date at AGRI’s Owen’s Marsh Project. In addition, the event will highlight the services available to disabled American heroes via the Pine Grove Program. Any interested party is invited to attend.

Wildlife habitat restoration is key to the mission of American Greenlands Restoration, Inc. This non-profit group, along with its partner The Pine Grove Program, believes that providing outdoor therapy opportunities to disabled American heroes not only benefits wildlife and their habitat, but the heroes themselves.

The Owen’s Marsh Project is located on land held and improved by AGRI founder John Sferazo. Historically, the land was once the site of an asphalt plant and a sand and gravel mining operation. Restoration of this land was achieved through assistance from the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) wildlife habitat incentive program (WHIP).

A chicken barbeque lunch will be provided at Pine Grove Lodge, home of the Pine Grove Program, from noon to 1 p.m. The PGP, which is part of AGRI, has been providing free outdoor recreation opportunities to disabled American heroes and their immediate families for years. Following lunch, there will be a presentation about the PGP, the future aspirations for wildlife habitat, wildlife and human rehabilitation via A.G.R.I. and a partnership with Unity College. There will also be a tour of the Pine Grove Lodge facility.
