Media Alert: Volunteers Needed at Auburn Food-Bank Location

AUBURN -The Good Shepherd Food-Bank is in need of volunteers on a daily basis at its Auburn Distribution Center to help sort and inspect thousands of pounds of food that will be distributed to those at risk of hunger across the state of Maine. Volunteers are free to come to the Food-Bank at any of these times: 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.Monday-Wednesday,7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday,7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday and9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Saturday at the Good Shepard Food Bank 3121Hotel Road in Auburn. More than 175,000 Mainers don’t know where they’re going to get their next meal. To put that into perspective, the combined population of Lewiston and Auburn is 65,000 people. Good Shepherd Food-Bank is at the center of a statewide network of over 600 hunger-relief organizations, distributing over 12 million pounds of food in 2009.
