Community Care receives Reaccreditation by COA

Bangor -

BANGOR – Community Care is a non-profit 501(c)(3) agency that serves children, adults, and families throughout Maine who are dealing with mental health/behavioral health issues. Community Care is based in Bangor, and all of the agency’s programs are licensed and funded by Maine’s Department of Health and Human Services. Community Care services and supports include: home-based clinical services for children and families; case management for children, families and adults; daily living support for adults; treatment foster care; and outpatient therapy

COA reaccreditation is an objective and reliable verification that provides confidence and support to an organization’s service recipients, board members, staff and community partners. The COA reaccreditation process involves a detailed review and analysis of both an organization’s administrative operations and its service delivery practices. All are “measured” against national standards of best practice. These standards emphasize services that are accessible, appropriate, culturally responsive, evidence based, and outcomes-oriented, In addition, they confirm that the services are provided by a skilled and supported workforce – and that all individuals are treated with dignity and respect.

Because COA reviews and reaccredits the entire organization, not just specific programs, consumers can have confidence in the credibility, integrity and achievement of the entire organization.

Kate Davis, Executive Director of Community Care states: “We are very proud to have achieved re-accreditation status. The process of examining all aspects of the agency is a rigorous one, and it is great to know that our service delivery and administration meets or exceeds the high standards that COA mandates. Our staff and foster parents work very hard to support and provide treatment to our clients in the most respectful and flexible manner, utilizing evidence-based practices to assist them in reaching their goals. We enjoy and are proud of our work with our clients and it is really nice to have it recognized in this way.”
