Bangor, Stetson, Sidney, Buxton, Bath, Lewiston, Bridgton -

Contoocook, NH -  By demonstrating compliance with The Joint Commission‘s national standards for health care quality and safety, NFI North, Inc. has earned the Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval™ as a behavioral health organization.
Founded in 1951, The Joint Commission is dedicated to continuously improving the safety and quality of the nation’s health care through voluntary accreditation.
NFI North is a private non-profit agency providing behavioral health services to a wide range of consumers including children, families, adults and seniors in New Hampshire and Maine.
“We sought accreditation for our organization because we want to demonstrate our commitment to consumer safety and quality care,” says Paul Dann, Ph. D., executive director. “We view obtaining Joint Commission accreditation as a significant step in support of our excellence.”
NFI North’s accreditation achievement is a demonstration of the organization’s leadership and staff commitment to excellence,” says Mary Cesare-Murphy, Ph.D., executive director, Behavioral Health Care Accreditation Program, The Joint Commission. “Joint Commission accreditation requires organization-wide dedication to providing safe, client-focused care, treatment and services.”
The Joint Commission conducted an unannounced, on-site evaluation of NFI North on April 6-9, 2010. The accreditation award recognizes NFI North’s dedication to complying with the Joint Commission’s state-of-the-art standards on a continuous basis.
Karen Cusano, M. Ed., assistant executive director says that accreditation shows that “we make a significant investment in quality on a day-to-day basis from the top down. She notes that accreditation is attainable only through cooperation and communication among staff members. “Everyone at NFI North plays a vital role in working to meet the standards. It gives them a feeling of prestige to work in an accredited organization,” says Cusano. “They also appreciate the educational aspect of the survey and the opportunity to interact with The Joint Commission.”
