DOVER-FOXCROFT – The National Association of School Nurses will host National School Nurse Day, ‚ÄúVision, Voice, Visibility: Setting Sail Toward Healthy Horizons‚ÄĚ,¬† Wednesday, May 11. National School Nurse Day was established in 1972 to foster a better understanding of the role of school nurses in the educational setting.
National School Nurse Day falls on the Wednesday during National Nurses Week, May 6 ‚Äď 12, ending on the birthday of Florence Nightingale, the founder of nursing. Maine School Nurses celebrated on May 5th with a tea at the Blaine House graciously hosted by Mrs. Lepage. Honored at the tea, was Sharon Foster RN, Maine School Nurse of the Year for 2010. A special guest appearance was made by David Stockford. Speakers included Brenda White RN President of the Maine Association of School Nurses and Nancy Dube RN, MPH, Maine School Nurse Consultant.
