EMHS Members Celebrate Community Volunteers

Bangor -

BANGOR – EMHS is proud to celebrate National Volunteer Week, April 10-16. Throughout central, eastern, and northern Maine, EMHS members have many dedicated volunteers that are committed to helping to serve our patients and community. In Greater Bangor, Eastern Maine Medical Center (EMMC) Volunteer Services, Rosscare, and EMHS recognize the people in our community who take time out of their day to lend a helping hand. Whether it’s calling seniors to ensure they are well, assisting our many individual departments, or a warm greeting by a patient’s bedside, volunteers brighten the day for many of our community members.
EMMC Volunteer Services, Rosscare, and EMHS depend on volunteers to keep their programs going strong. Cindy Smith, coordinator for Rosscare’s Telecare Program, is very thankful for the volunteers who come in weekly to provide free daily check in calls for Bangor area seniors. “Rosscare is fortunate to have volunteers who care about the seniors in our community. Their loyalty to the Telecare program participants is the key ingredient to the program success and they each deserve to be honored this week and everyday throughout the year.”
Martha Wildman, director of EMMC Volunteer Services, has also seen how volunteers at EMMC have provided invaluable support to EMMC patients. “Our volunteers, whether escorting patients, ringing up sales in the gift shop, helping at CancerCare of Maine, or providing Reiki are community ambassadors bringing comfort and care to all. Particularly during National Volunteer Week, but also throughout the year, we celebrate EMMC volunteers.”

Rosscare and EMMC are both members of EMHS. EMHS members ensure the highest quality of care is available to all who need it, especially those in rural Maine.
