Event for Farmers and Community Partners who Support Farmers

Freeport -

FREEPORT, Maine — Farmland Trust is partnering with the Opportunity Alliance to share resources and information of use to local farmers who are marketing to low-income consumers.

The event is designed to inform both farmers and community partners who operate farmers markets about federal nutrition programs. It will feature two simultaneous workshops, “Farmers Markets: Adding Value to Your Community,” and “Empowering Federal Nutrition Benefit clients to Buy Local,” from 2 to 5 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 26, at the Harraseeket Inn. A networking dinner will follow the two workshops.

Maine Farmland Trust is a statewide non-profit best known for its efforts to protect farmland. But the organization is also involved in a broad range of activities designed to support farmers, including helping to get the word out about federal nutrition programs.
