Land trust seeks public input on conservation priorities

Newport -

1) The Sebasticook River Watershed covers more than 900 square miles in 42 Central Maine towns. The Sebasticook Regional Land Trust is soliciting public input on conservation priorities within the watershed.

NEWPORT – The Sebasticook Regional Land Trust and Maine Department of Agriculture will host a community meeting from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 23 at the Newport Cultural Center Community Room, 154 Main St. The meeting is designed to solicit public input on conservation efforts within the Sebasticook River Watershed.

In addition, the Maine Department of Agriculture is in the midst of rule-making for three new statewide farmland protection programs. The Department’s Stephanie Gilbert will be at the meeting to describe the programs and gather local farmers’ input.

A similar meeting will be convened in Albion from 1- 3 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 17 at the Besse Building, 22 Main St.
