Scouts Help the Hungry

Orono -

ORONO, Maine — The Boy Scouts of Troop 478 Orono-Veazie gave an early Christmas present to Crossroads Ministries in the form of a truck filled with food. On Dec. 16 – 17, the troop organized a food drive at Bell’s Orono IGA and the customers generously responded by donating non-perishable food items or cash. Scouts, leaders, and parents from the troop, as well as some Cub Scouts from Pack 47, helped make the effort a success by greeting customers, collecting the donations, transporting them to Crossroads Food Pantry and stocking empty shelves.

Crossroads Ministries is located at 2 Wood Street in Old Town, Maine, and serves the needs of many in the surrounding areas. They operate their food pantry with the goal to end hunger, one family at a time, as well as support those in need of clothing, shelter and encouragement.

The Scouts and Brenda Davis, on behalf of Crossroads, express their gratitude to Bell’s IGA and all the customers for their donations, which will help feed our neighbors in the cold months ahead.
