BANGOR – The Bangor Salvation Army has been accepting applications for Christmas assistance from needy families for the past two weeks. So far, the response has been less than expected, with requests for help from only 65 families to date, when in 2009 the Army assisted 437 families. But it is believe that there is not less need this year, but simply that people have not yet heard about the times that they can complete the applications for Christmas toys and food. People in the community are asked to let their neighbors know that they can apply for Christmas assistance during the month of November. You need to be a resident of the following cities to apply, Bangor, Brewer, Exeter, Glenburn, Hermon, Kenduskeag, Levant, Orrington and Veazie.
Applications will be taken at 65 S. Park St, Bangor from 9-11:30 a.m.
Monday, Wednesday, Friday and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 20.
