ORLAND, Maine — The Orland Fire Department invites the residents of Orland and surrounding communities to our Fire Prevention Open House from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 15, at 91 School House Road. We have all kinds of fun, hands-on learning activities planned for community members of all ages, as we mark Fire Prevention Week. There will also be a variety of fire safety door prizes, and refreshments will be served.
Come and experience hands-on fire safety: learn how to safely and effectively use a home fire extinguisher, create a home fire escape plan for your family with the help of an Orland firefighter, practice calling 911 so that you will know what to expect when an emergency happens to you, and try your hand at deciding what is OK and what is not OK to burn in your outdoor burn pile. Each activity will be guided by members of the Orland Fire Department, and will be open to folks of all ages- kids, families, seniors- all are welcome! And of course, we are always happy to show off our fire trucks and the variety of equipment we use to provide for the public safety of Orland and surrounding communities. We especially look forward to meeting people interested in joining the fire department, and will be happy to answer any questions you might have about how you can make our community a safer place to live.
