CASTINE, Maine — Since the dawn of time humans have learned to use the essence and fibers of plants to comfort and cure the sick and injured. Susan Sanfilippo will share her research on the lives and works of Maine‚Äôs herb doctors, Indian healers, midwives and other practitioners and botanists, real and fictional, who contributed to the knowledge of herbal medicine. Her talk entitled ‚ÄúPowder, Potion, Poultise & Pill: Identifying, Prescribing and Administering Medicinal Herbs in Historic Maine‚ÄĚ will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 16, in the Wilson Museum, 120 Perkins Street in Castine. Attendees will have the opportunity to touch, sniff, and taste herbs, and make a packet of herbal tea.
