Chapel Hill Floral Pairs with American Red Cross to Influence Donations

Bangor -

BANGOR -  Chapel Hill Floral, known as Bangor’s neighborhood florist, is teaming up with the American Red Cross Blood Services for the month of September. Long known for their generosity within the community, owners Rick and Barbara Frye are looking to motivate others to get out and donate.

“We want to help out in any way we can…from donating centerpieces for Disaster Services’ Hero’s Breakfast, to giving away roses during holidays, we want to spread the good feeling and encourage others to get involved” says Rick Frye. Always a supporter of Disaster Services and Blood Services, the American Red Cross is more than grateful to Chapel Hill.

The month of September is sponsored by Chapel Hill at the donation center, located at 900 B Hammond Street. All month long, presenting donors may enter to win one dozen roses per month for a year, and, get a coupon for a FREE single rose to redeem at Chapel Hill Floral! Not only are presenting donors given the opportunity to potentially save up to three lives with each donation, but also have the chance to brighten a loved one’s day (for a year!) with roses! Additionally, during the week of Sept. 13, all presenting will receive a single rose and a $10 gift card, all courtesy of Chapel Hill.

To have a successful blood donation in the hot weather, or at any other time of the year, follow these tips:
• Get a good night’s sleep before your donation appointment
• Drink extra water and fluids to replace the volume you will donate (avoid caffeine)
• Eat a healthy meal before arriving at the blood drive
• Re-hydrate by drinking plenty of fluids over the next 24-48 hours

The American Red Cross Bangor Donation Center is open from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday, from 8:00 a.m.  to 6:00 p.m.  Friday and from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.the first and third Saturday of the month. Donors can make appointments by calling 1-800-RED-CROSS or 941-2900, but walk-ins are always welcome. Appointments may also be made online at www.redcrossblood.org.
