Castine Crop Walk Scheduled for 9/11

Castine -

CASTINE, Maine — “To Honor Those Who Died, We Walk So Others May Live” will be the theme of this year’s CROP Walk  at 1 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 11, in Castine. “CROP” stands for Communities Responding to Overcome Poverty. CROP Walks are fundraisers sponsored by Church World Service, an interdenominational umbrella organization of Christian, Jewish, and other religious groups committed to combating poverty abroad and at home. Twenty-five percent of all funds raised by the Walks are returned to the local communities. This year the funds will be donated to the Hancock County chapter of Habitat for Humanity. Details of the exact route of the Walk will be forthcoming.
