BAR HARBOR – The 9th Annual Carol Dyer Memorial ‚ÄúLight the Way to a Cure‚ÄĚ Luminaria Evening to benefit the American Cancer Society will be held from 7-10pm on Saturday, August 7th on the Bar Harbor Village Green.
When Carol Dyer lost her battle with brain cancer in June of 2001, her friends decided to channel their grief into planning an event that would honor her by giving others a fighting chance. Light the Way to a Cure is an evening to remember those who have been affected by cancer in every way, shape and form. Luminaries displaying the names of cancer victims and survivors, available for $10 each before and during the event, will illuminate the Bar Harbor Village Green as Chuck Donnelly and Emma Walsh perform in the gazebo.
Light the Way to a Cure has raised over $50,000 for the American Cancer Society since it began in 2002. Last year, the event raised nearly $6,000.
Luminary order forms are available at www.barharborybs.com. The form can be returned with a check payable to the American Cancer Society with ‚ÄúCarol Dyer‚ÄĚ in the memo line. Please mail to: The First, P.O. Box 258, Bar Harbor, ME 04609. Forms can also be found at various local businesses and may be purchased at the event itself.
