BELFAST – Roots & Tendrils will present a special evening of music with award winning songwriter Emilia Dahlin at The Colonial Theatre in downtown Belfast at 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 4.

Emilia Dahlin earned the title of Maine’s Best Female Vocalist from 2005 until 2007 and Best Songwriter in 2006. She also won the Starbucks Music Makers Regional Songwriting Competition in 2007. In spring of 2009, she released the much-anticipated album, “Rattle Them Bones”, and played a coveted opening slot for Ani Difranco. Most recently, Emilia took home first place in the folk/Americana songwriting competition at the 2010 Boston Music Conference. As evidenced by her growing collection of musical accolades, she never fails to impress audiences of all ages and musical orientations.

Emilia Dahlin will be shooting footage for her debut music video during her trip to Belfast. Don’t miss this opportunity to be a part of the excitement! Show attendees are encouraged to bring extra enthusiasm and their most stylish threads.

Putnam Smith will be opening for Emilia. Foot-stompin’ banjo, melancholy guitar, spicy mandolin, and “a crooning voice are the tools of the trade for Putnam. With the ‘modern roots’ sound of Iron and Wine and the performance energy of a one-man Old Crow Medicine Show, Putnam puts on a show that makes people want to do a little knee-slappin’ one moment, then cozy up with a glass of red wine the next. Steeped in Appalachian ‘Old-Time’ and Americana Roots music, Putnam’s songs sound like they’ve come from a back porch in the Blue Ridge Mountains, or some cabin on the coast of Maine. From whiskey-slinging good-time numbers on his Grandfather’s banjo, to intimate heart breakers on the guitar, to wry and sardonic tunes on the mandolin, Putnam Smith is able to connect with each member of his audience as if each one were an old friend with whom he were spending the evening.

The Colonial Theatre is located at 163 High Street in downtown Belfast. This event is being presented by Belfast arts and music enthusiasts, Roots & Tendrils. Tickets for the show are $10 and will go on sale on Thursday, October 14th. They can be purchased in advance at Roots & Tendrils or online at www.rootsandtendrils.com.
