BELFAST, Maine – The Spring AARP Driver Safety Course,Â presented through a partnership between AARP and the Volunteers of America will take place from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday, June 14, at the Reynolds House, located off Congress St. and Route 1 in Belfast.
AARP Driver Safety instructor Paul Sheridan will teach defensive driving techniques and strategies, traffic laws, rules of the road and more in the four-hour course. They will discover how to adjust driving to age-related changes in vision, hearing, and reaction time through an interactive discussion about the changing technology on newer vehicles and the warning signs that suggest itâ€™s time to give up the keys. Best of all, in Maine, drivers 55 years or older who successfully complete the AARP course are eligible for a car insurance discount, good for three years.
Course seating is limited; there is a $14 fee, with a $2 discount for AARP members; advanced registration is required. For more information, call 338-0350.
