Responsible Beverage Server Trainings

Bucksport -

BUCKSPORT, Maine — Health Acadia is pleased to announce upcoming Responsible Beverage Server & Seller (RBS) trainings that will be held in Bucksport and Blue Hill on November 1 and 2. When businesses sell or serve alcohol, they become susceptible to certain risks, such as selling to underage customers or over-serving intoxicated individuals. With such risks, it is critical that staff are well trained to assure that all alcohol sales are done in the safest manner possible. Such training is good for business and good for the safety of the communities in which we reside.

The RBS Trainings, hosted by Healthy Acadia, provide staff with knowledge to better identify and prevent violations of liquor laws, with an emphasis on underage and high-risk drinkers. Along with increasing their knowledge about liquor laws, employees will receive training on best practices to identify minors and visibly intoxicated persons. Training employees through this half-day course often leads to reduced insurance rates for businesses and will help reduce the risk of making costly and/or tragic unlawful sales.
Healthy Acadia has recently published their 2011-2012 training schedule for both on-site (restaurants & bars) and off-site (retail stores & liquor stores) businesses. Two upcoming trainings are taking place, one for on-site businesses and one for off-site businesses. The training for on-site business staff will be held on Tuesday, November 1, from 12:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Edward K. Arey Community Center, 1160 River Road, in Bucksport. The training for off-site business staff will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 2, from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. at the Blue Hill Library, 5 Parker Point Road, in Blue Hill. The training is $25.00 per person and includes light refreshments. Businesses can register multiple employees to attend the same training or different trainings. At the conclusion of the training, employees receive a certification that is valid for 5 years.
