BELFAST, Maine — The Waldo County General Hospital is offering ‚ÄúIntegrating Mindfulness into Work and Personal Life‚ÄĚ for both healthcare professionals and teachers from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 4, from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.and Saturday, Nov. 5, at the hospital‚Äôs Education Center on Northport Ave.
Mindfulness is about paying attention to what is happening in the moment and experiencing life as it unfolds. Too many people spend much of their lives unconsciously absorbed in a future that hasn’t happened yet or in a past that is already gone and in the process, spend much of the day out of touch with what is happening.
In this two-session program, you will have the opportunity practice mindfulness techniques that can be used in the helping professions as well as in ones personal life. During the first session, attendees will study and practice mindfulness skills and then return Saturday morning to explore in more depth the integration of mindfulness into work and personal life.
The cost of the course for healthcare professions is $110 (approved by the Maine Medical Association) and $100 for CEU credits (approved for seven contact hours by the University of Maine).
Registration and payment are due by Wednesday, Nov. 2. Make checks payable to Center for Studying Mindfulness and mail to Barbara Crowley, Health Educator, PO Box 287, Belfast, ME 04915.
Participants should wear layered comfortable clothing and bring a blanket and bagged lunch or snack.
