Phyllis Capanna will lead a workshop on Middle Eastern frame drumming

PENOBSCOT – A¬† “Intro to Middle Eastern Frame Drumming” workshop will be held from 1-4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 19 at Dragonfly Cove Retreat House on Pierce‚Äôs Pond in Penobscot.

Handheld drums rooted in Middle Eastern music, frame drums are traditionally used for dance and ceremony. These drums, such as tars and riqs, date back to ancient times. Frame drumming offers a thorough brain/body work out, coordinating the hands, the brain, the feet, and the voice to play these hypnotic rhythms.
