CASTINE – Dr. Sandweiss will speak at the Wilson Museum at 3 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 26 on his recent work in Peru.
Dr. Sandweiss is Dean of the Graduate School and Professor of Anthropology at the University of Maine at Orono. He has over thirty years of experience working in Peru, focusing on maritime adaptations and climate change. Currently he is involved in a multi-year project evaluating the idea that the north Peruvian coast experienced a major climate change about 5,000 years ago, as well as a study of early maritime adaptations in the Andes. The presentation is free and open to the public.
