Cooking Classes for Cancer Prevention & Survival offered During Breast Cancer Awareness Month

BELFAST, Maine — The Cancer Project, a national nonprofit program dedicated to advancing cancer prevention through education and research, is offering a cooking course designed to help local residents prevent and survive cancer through proper diet and nutrition.

The Cancer Prevention and Survival Cooking Course will be held  from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Saturdays, Oct. 1, 8 and 22 and from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 14, at the Waldo County General Hospital, 119 Northport Ave.
There is a $20.00 donation for the course and scholarships are available for those cancer patients currently in treatment as well as their caregivers.

The class details are as follows:
Oct. 1 9:30 am, Introduction to How Foods Fight Cancer
Oct. 8, 9:30 am, Fueling Up on Low-Fat, High-Fiber Foods
Oct. 14, 5:30 pm, Discovering Dairy and Meat Alternatives
Oct. 22, 9:30 am Cancer-Fighting Compounds and Healthy Weight Control
