STONINGTON, Maine –¬† Stonington designer Julie Morringello of Modernmaine will be participating in the 2011 Providence Fine Furnishings & Fine Craft Show taking place in downtown Providence, RI ‚Äď October 21-23 at the Rhode Island Convention Center.
Morringello will exhibit her new collection of sea urchin-inspired pendant and floor lanterns, called ‚ÄúUni‚ÄĚ. The lanterns, which are made of a central acrylic housing surrounded by rippled Tyvek diffusers, may be easily customized. The diffusers are available in many colors, and may also be replaced with printed artwork, or even other materials such as papyrus, Japanese papers, wood veneer or delicate wire mesh.
Morringello will also be exhibiting a 30‚ÄĚ diameter custom made chandelier, which was inspired by the rustic elegance of the many old barns that dot the Maine landscape. Instead of crystals, the blackened steel structure of the chandelier is strung with hundreds of hanging wood disks, through which shines light from three Edison-style lightbulbs.
Morringello will be a first time exhibitor at the Fine Furnishings show, which will feature approximately 125 exhibitors from across North America who design and handcraft furniture along with home décor accessories such as lighting, floor coverings, and fine art as well as quality handcrafted ceramics, glass, sculpture, and more. All work is for sale, order and/or commission. For more information visit www.FineFurnishingsShows.com or call 401-816-0963.
