PORTLAND â€“Â Bernstein Shur, a leading multi-service law firm with offices in Maine and New Hampshire, announced today that Phil Saucier has joined the firm. Saucier will be a part of the Municipal and Regulatory Practice Group, focusing his practice on municipal and health law.
Saucier joins Bernstein Shur from the office of Governor John E. Baldacci in Augusta, Maine, where he served as the Senior Policy and Legal Advisor for health policy.
Prior to attending law school, Saucier worked as an urban/land use planner at Sasaki Associates, an international architecture and design firm. After law school, he practiced land use and environmental law in Portland. He has been a member of the City of Portland Zoning Board of Appeals since 2005, currently serving as its Chairman.
During his time with Governor Baldacci, he advised the governorâ€™s office on health law and policy matters, including health information technology, national health reform implementation, health insurance, and hospital and provider regulatory matters. Saucier also represented the governorâ€™s office before the Legislature on health policy issues. Saucier was recently appointed by the governor to the Health Information Technology Steering Committee, which will advise the state on implementing health information exchange and electronic medical records across Maine.

Saucier received his J.D., cum laude, from the University of Maine School of Law and a B.A. from Vassar College. Saucier also served as a law clerk for the Honorable John A. Woodcock of the U.S. District Court in Bangor, Maine. Based in Bernstein Shurâ€™s Portland, Maine office, Saucier is admitted to practice law in the State of Maine and the United States District Court of Maine.
