WINTER HARBOR – Gail La Rosa Thompson of Ellsworth has been named Director of Advancement by Acadia Partners for Science and Learning at the Schoodic Education and Research Center. Ms. Thompson has a BA in Biology from Mount Holyoke College and an MA in Museum Science from Texas Tech University. She has an extensive background in nonprofit administration and fundraising and has worked at the George B. Dorr Museum of Natural History at the College of the Atlantic, the Abbe Museum, and the Maine Public Broadcasting Network. Ms. Thompson currently chairs the Governance Committee of the Board of Trustees of The Grand in Ellsworth, and is Coordinator of the Parent Advisory Council for the neonatal intensive care unit at Eastern Maine Medical Center.
Her responsibilities at Acadia Partners include developing a comprehensive development plan for individual and corporate fundraising, grant writing, public relations, and marketing. Ms. Thompson will work cooperatively with staff, the Board of Directors, volunteers, foundations, corporations, and donors to achieve both short- and long-term fundraising goals.
