PRESQUE ISLE – The Jessica Prouty Band is stepping it up a notch with their triple whammy release of their CD, video, and tour. Named after one of the songs on their sophomore CD, the Time to Escape 2010 tour kicked off June 23rd at Boothbay Harbor Maine with the tall ships sailing in; winds through other New England States; stops at Six Flags Great Escape in NY and Six Flags New England MA; includes opening for Ernie and the Automatics at the Stratham Fair; opening for Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes in Rockland, Maine at the Lobster Festival then on up to Presque Isle Maine to judge a Teen Battle of the Bands; plus some Camplified tour dates in NJ, NY, PA; and finishes up in Spencer, Massachusetts on September, 6th. The “Time to Escape” tour is an all ages welcome, fan friendly, rock and roll show.
The band is comprised of Jessica Prouty (16) lead vocals, bass; Cody Nilsen (17) lead guitar, backing vocals; Cam Pelkey (16) drums; and Andy Covino (15) keys.
“This will be our second summer touring in a van,” said Cody Nilsen, “and we expect to like it just as much if not more than our tour last summer.”
“We are expanding to more states this summer” added Jessica Prouty, “more miles, more fun experiences. We documented a lot of it last summer and you can still see those videos on our site, and we are hoping to do even more this summer.”
The Time to Escape CD was produced by Brian Maes, who has worked with Jessica and the band from the beginning. Brian says, “The band keeps progressing musically and personally at a blistering pace … I just hope I can keep up,” and “I am proud to be associated with these kids and honored that they continue to put their faith and trust in me.” Brian has also most recently produced the Ernie and the Automatics CD, Low Expectations, that debuted at No. 7 on Billboard Magazine’s Top Blues Album charts, and he is currently producing their second CD too.
The video was produced on the John Lennon Tour Bus from a track from the Time to Escape CD. The Jessica Prouty Band won the John Lennon Tour Bus Daddy’s Junky Music Rockin’ Roland Battle of the Bands and the video was one of the prizes. All four band members agree that shooting the video was an experience they will remember since they shot in a quarry, a forest and a dilapidated motel. “Some of the shots they were able to get of us jumping and running were sick,” said Cam Pelkey. “How they put it all together at the end with the multiple tracks really made it stand out, although it was tiring. I think we played the song 40 times to get all the takes,” added keyboardist Andy Covino. “The only thing strange about the video for me is that I’m not playing bass,” said Jessica, “I play bass and sing in the band.”
The band will play at the Northern Maine Fair on Saturday, August 7th, starting at 7:00 pm in the Forum. Free with fair admission. 84
