Broadband Access in Maine: Public Forums

Presque Isle -

PRESQUE ISLE – In January of this year, the ConnectME Authority received nearly $1.8 million in American Recovery and Reinvestment Act funding from the Department of Commerce, National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) to pursue a broadband mapping and planning project, creating the first comprehensive geographic inventory of high-speed Internet services statewide for use in identifying unserved and underserved areas and in planning expansion throughout the State.

Six public forums are scheduled from October to November. The purpose of these forums is to solicit input from residents, businesses, and nonprofit organizations about broadband/internet access: identifying the drivers to greater adoption and barriers to greater adoption in their respective geographic regions. The public is invited to attend and participate in the discussion.
