BANGOR â€“ The growing lineup of speakers slated for Accelerate Maine 2010 is drawing from experts in more and more of Maineâ€™s leading industries and businesses. Accelerate Maine 2010, a business conference and exposition for business owners, executives, and managers, aims to bring together professionals from a variety of fields and industries for educational and networking opportunities unmatched in the state.
Featuring six industry tracks, Accelerate Maine 2010 will provide an invaluable professional development opportunity for Maineâ€™s business owners and professionals interested in improving their effectiveness and boosting business for their company. Participants choose amongst the 48 sessions delivered over the two day conference. The lineup of expert presenters continues to grow as Accelerate Maine takes shape, but here is a sampling of confirmed speakers and session topics.
Participants will learn marketing and PR tips from experts from a variety of Maine companies and PR firms. Shipyard President Fred Forsley will talk Brand Management. UptownUncorked.comâ€™s Leslie Poston will explain company-wide social media applications that pay off. Alongside other Finance and Accounting sessions on community development finance and investment management, John Burns and Jayme Okma Lee of the Small Enterprise Growth Fund will discuss Alternative Forms of Capital in Maine. The Real Estate and Construction track will focus on green building, alternative energy projects, and new materials trends emerging in Maine.
Many of the presentations in the Healthcare track focus on its changing infrastructure, especially with regard to information technology. Kevin Neely, of Massachusetts-based Global Data Systems, Inc. will cover Advancing Information Technology in Personal Healthcare Solutions. Employee Benefit Specialist Maureen Hedges will explore the national healthcare overhaul passed earlier this year. By providing tactical sessions with invaluable, expert insight for Maineâ€™s business professionals, Accelerate Maine 2010 is designed to be investment in professional development.
Dr. Catherine Renault of the Maine Office of Innovation will open Accelerate Maine with its keynote address. Education on Research and Development in Maine will continue with Jim Damicis, President of Policy One Research Center and Betsy Biemann, President of the Maine Technology Institute. At least three experts will represent various areas of research taking place at the University of Maine: Dr. Habib Dagher, Director of the Advanced Structures and Composites Center, Economist Dr. Todd Gabe, and Hugh Stevens, Director of the Knowledge Transfer Alliance.
