23rd Annual Maine Telecom Conference June 3rd

Mike Werner, Senior Strategy Platform Advisor at Microsoft Corporation, will give the keynote speech at the upcoming 23rd Annual Telecommunications and Computer Networking Conference on Thursday, June 3, 2010. Werner’s presentation, Cloud Platforms: What is Right For You? will illuminate the benefits and address the concerns related to cloud computing. The event, sponsored by the Maine Telecommunications Users Group (MTUG), will be held at the Holiday Inn by the Bay on Spring Street in Portland from 7:30 am to 4 pm.

The MTUG Conference will feature more than four dozen exhibit booths and twelve educational workshops featuring presentations on security, data centers, business operations, and unified communications, including sessions led by Google and FairPoint Communications. Attendees will also have the opportunity to network with hundreds of colleagues in the Maine telecommunications industry.

Vendor displays will be open from 7:30 am to 4 pm with workshops running in three sessions from mid-morning to mid-afternoon. The registration fee of $40 in advance ($50 at the door) includes continental breakfast and lunch. There is also a $35 early bird discount fee for those who register by May 14th. MTUG advances the understanding of telecommunications throughout Maine, with a focus on business applications and management, technology, security, training and regulatory affairs. MTUG holds monthly meetings from September to April where end users and vendors discuss the application of the latest telecommunications technology in real-life scenarios. MTUG also shares information about regulatory issues, fraud activity and job opportunities with members. Membership is free (exclusive of the Annual Conference) and open to all interested parties.
