PORTLAND, Maine — The Maine Home, Remodeling & Garden Show, Maine’s leading annual home improvement show, returns to the Cumberland County Civic Center on Feb. 18-19. This year marks the 22nd edition of the show, which is the foremost occasion for Maine homeowners and renters to learn about products and services for home updates, improvements and remodeling.
In 2012, the show features over 180 exhibitors showcasing the latest home improvement products and services for budgets large and small. Exhibitor categories include building and remodeling, kitchens and bathrooms, outdoor living, furnishing and dĂ©cor, green living, and much more. Exhibitors include Certa Pro Painters, Castle Kitchens, Hancock Lumber, Port City Flooring and Owens Corning.
Informative Seminars and Clinics
Experts will host informative seminars and clinics throughout the weekend on topics such as What to Look for When Hiring a Contractor, Home Automation Made Easy, Declutter and Organize Your Home, Save Money and Energy with Home Energy Audits, and Geothermal for Homeowners.
â€śAttendees at this year’s show will be able to learn how to add value to their home; save money by improving their home’s energy efficiency; and beautify their home, apartment or yard for year-round enjoyment,â€ť said show co-producer Beth Alles. â€śThe breadth of information available at the show is amazing and suited to all tastes and budgets.â€ť
Chef Demonstration Series Returns
Again this year, the popular Meet the Chefs cooking series provides attendees the opportunity to learn from and sample the talents of top area chefs. Meet the Chefs is hosted by Cabot Creamery’s Candace Karu, and will feature talent from Davidâ€™s 388, The Grill Room & Bar, The Front Room Restaurant & Bar, The Corner Room Kitchen & Bar, Black Tie Catering, Northeast Flavor, Black Bettyâ€™s Bistro and more.
First-time participants include author and instructor Kathy Gunst of the Stonewall Kitchen Cooking School; Dana Moos, bed and breakfast operator and author of the new cookbook, The Art of Breakfast; and Shannon Bard from Zapoteca.
Crafts, Gifts, Art and Prizes
The works of many of the area’s most talented artisans, craft food producers and vendors of garden accessories and home dĂ©cor will be available for purchase during both days of the show. Vendor prizes, giveaways and a Habitat for Humanity raffle round out the weekend opportunities.
